Dans le midi, a fixed term for all those who do not live in the south of France, but spend their holidays there and often enough also have their second residency there.
I am also a victim. After all, I spend most of the year in the north, either in Paris or Berlin or Leipzig. And it's not just about the feel-good factor of the Mediterranean, the easy way of life, the petty crime and the pleasantly provincial, but especially about the light.
The light during the day, in the morning, at sunset and the light at night. How many painters, photographers, fashion designers and other creative people have been inspired by the light of the south and tried to capture it.
Nice try. My umpteenth summer holiday dans le Midi and I can't help but work my way through this light.
What material I used and why:
My artist friend Katia, who lives in Berlin, is the widow of the Greek artist Pantelis Sabaliotis. The painting is part of a series of 17 small-format works for which I used exclusively and completely exactly the oil colours that the artist left behind unused due to his early and unexpected death twelve years ago.
I transferred the colours directly from the tube, undiluted and unmixed, onto the canvases. In this way, they fulfil their actual, invisible purpose. An appreciation for my friend and the work of her late husband.

Here sometimes Stephan put together a small collection of his paintings for your convenience. Either new works he wants to show or issues that have touched him just intensively.
Enjoy.
